Piano coach
A free piano coach on tools.aden.space/piano. Add a song as a MIDI file or a recording (turned into notes in the browser by Transkun), then play it back at your speed on three screens, Waterfall, Mirror (through your camera, onto your own keys) and Space (your takes in 3D). A MIDI keyboard or the computer keys play along; every take is scored and kept in the browser.
What it is
A piano coach in your browser, at tools.aden.space/piano. Add a song,
then learn it by playing it back. No account.
- Songs. Ode to Joy is built in. "Add a song" (or drop a file on the coach) takes a MIDI file, or a recording (MP3, WAV, M4A) that turns into notes in your browser. The song menu lists what you're learning with your best take, and what's next up.
- Three screens, one switch. Waterfall: the notes fall onto the keys, coloured by hand, finger numbers on the next ones. Mirror: your camera's picture of your own keys, the notes landing on them. Space: the song as a 3D score with your take laid over it, missed notes outlined; drag to turn it.
- Practise your way. L and R pick the hands you play (the song plays the other). The speed menu slows it down, and the note button picks the sound: Piano, Dance piano, Deep piano, Electric piano and the rest, or a sampler made from your own samples. Press a section above the screen to loop it. The cog can make the song wait at each note until you play it.
- Play along. Connect a MIDI keyboard under the cog, or use the computer's home row (A is middle C). Each take is scored by the notes you hit in time.
- The camera. The camera button watches your hands. Line it up once with your keys (the cog, "Line up the camera with your keys"): the outline fits itself to the keys it sees, and Find the keys fits it again. If it's off, drag the four dots onto the corners. Pick your keyboard's size (25 to 88 keys), or its lowest and highest key. Your hands then show over the keys in Waterfall, and over the picture in Mirror.
Songs, takes and progress stay in this browser. The camera picture never leaves it.
