Guitar coach
A free guitar coach on tools.aden.space/guitar. Any song from the Piano coach's library (a MIDI file, or a recording turned into notes in the browser) becomes tab you can play. The notes roll onto the "now" line with their fret at your speed, the neck shows what to play now and next, the microphone hears your guitar and scores each take, and a tuner sits in the bar.
What it is
A guitar coach in your browser, at tools.aden.space/guitar. Add a song,
then learn it as tab. No account.
- Songs. The same songs as the Piano coach: Ode to Joy is built in, and "Add a song" (or drop a file on the coach) takes a MIDI file or a recording that turns into notes in your browser. A song added on one coach is on the other.
- Tab. Your notes roll right to left onto the "now" line, each on its string with its fret, its ring trailing behind. Under it the neck lights what to play now and outlines what's next. The coach picks where to play each note so your hand moves as little as it can, and keeps chords to what four fingers and the open strings can hold.
- Melody, bass or both. Melody and Bass pick what you play; the rest plays along. The note button picks the sound, the speed menu slows it down, and a section above the screen loops.
- Play along. The microphone button hears your guitar: each note due is listened for as you play it, and the take is scored. While it listens your own notes stay silent, so it hears your guitar and not the speakers. A MIDI guitar or keyboard works too, under the cog, which can also make the song wait at each note until you play it.
- Tuner. The tuning fork in the bar listens while open: the note, how many cents off, which way to turn, and the string it's nearest.
Songs and best takes stay in this browser. The microphone is never recorded.
