Aden in Finder and Explorer
Every team appears as a folder in Finder's sidebar or in Explorer. Files take no space until something opens them, and only the part being read downloads.
What it is
Aden sits beside your other files like a drive. Each of your teams is a folder, laid out like a team sync folder: Team Documents, then every track with its versions, covers, contracts and project files. Nothing downloads until you open it, so a team's whole catalogue takes no space. Any app opens the files directly: a DAW, Preview, QuickTime, Media Player.
An app that reads part of a file only downloads that part. A long video starts playing and a big session opens its header without waiting for the rest. On a Mac this needs macOS 26; on Windows it always works.
Files you opened stay and keep working offline. Remove Download (Mac) or Free up space (Windows) frees the space again.
Using it
Sign in to the desktop app.
- Mac: Aden appears under Locations in Finder's sidebar.
- Windows: Aden is the
Aden Drivefolder in your user folder.
Type "Show Aden in Finder" or "Show Aden in Explorer" in the command palette (⌘K) to open it.
Limits
- Read only for now: change files on Aden or in a team sync folder.
- macOS 15 or later, or Windows, with the Aden app running.
- Signing out removes the drive and the files it kept on this computer. On Windows, files you saved into the folder yourself stay.
DJ crates sync on the desktop
Crates from rekordbox, Serato, Traktor and Virtual DJ come into Aden with your own tracks linked, and your Aden playlists go out to those apps with the final version of each of your tracks.
Drop shelf (drag files onto the notch)
Drag files or apps onto the MacBook notch, the menu bar icon or Finder's "Choose Action…" and Aden suggests what to do with them, or adds the apps to your setup.
