Player & queue

What it is

Once you press play anywhere in Aden, a player bar sticks to the bottom of the screen and follows you around the app. It shows the artwork, title and artists of what's playing, transport controls (previous / play-pause / next), the progress bar, volume, and a queue button with a badge counting the tracks lined up.

Where you are in the track and how long it runs sit together to the right of the progress bar, and fade in when you hover the bar. Previous and next sit a size under play, appear only when there is a track that way and slide in when one arrives, so a single track is never framed by two arrows that do nothing. The queue button fades in with the bar too, and stays up while the queue panel is open.

Volume is next to the queue button and stays there at every width: click it to mute and click again to come back to the level you were at, or hover it for the slider. A muted player shows the button filled, so silence never reads as a track that hasn't started.

Progress bar and speed

Progress bar in the player's "…" menu chooses between the plain slider and the playing track's waveform. The same waveform its track page shows: drag or click it to seek, exactly like the slider. It's Bar by default because the waveform is an extra load per track, the choice is remembered on this device, and tracks whose waveform hasn't been generated keep the slider.

Speed plays between 0.5x and 2x without changing the pitch.

The bar can be docked (default) or floating: a small draggable, resizable card you can park anywhere on screen, and it can be minimized out of the way and restored later.

The queue

Click the queue button to slide open the queue panel. Each row shows the track's cover, title, artists and collaborators, and its duration; the track playing right now is highlighted. From a row you can:

• Play it: click the cover, the title, or the row's play button to jump straight to that track.
• Remove it: the ✕ on hover takes it out of the queue.
• Everything else: the "…" menu next to the ✕.

Clear at the top of the panel empties the queue and stops playback.

Files in the queue

Loose files play here too. Press play on an audio file in a transfer (or on a public transfer link) and it joins the queue like a track, so it keeps playing while you move around and the bar pauses, scrubs and skips it. A file has no track page, so its row links back to the transfer it came from and skips the track-only actions (comments, versions, share).

Track actions from the player

The "…" menu appears on every queue row on hover (or keyboard focus) and, for whatever is playing right now, in the bar itself, so you can comment on, share or download the track you're listening to without navigating to its page first.

The menu offers:

• Go to track: opens the track's page.
• Comment at 1:23: jumps to the track's version card with the comment box already open and the timestamp of wherever the playhead is filled in, ready to type. For a track that isn't the one currently playing it reads Add a comment and leaves the timestamp empty.
• Open version: a submenu with every tab of the version card: Description, Tasks, Comments, Activity, Lyrics, Shares, and Files & extra. Picking one opens the versions page with that card already on that tab.
• Copy link: copies the track's link to your clipboard.
• Share track: opens the usual share dialog (available when the track belongs to a team with a public profile).
• Download: downloads the exact version that's queued (the one you're hearing), not some other version of the track.
• All versions & downloads: opens the track's versions page.
• Remove from queue: queue rows only.

In the player bar the same menu splits in two: This track holds everything above, and Audio player holds Progress bar, Speed, Shuffle queue, Clear queue, Float player / Dock player and Minimize. One "…" button instead of two identical ones.

When you're listening from a public share link rather than inside the app, the menu only shows the actions that work without an account: Copy link and Download (when the share allows downloads).
