Next up

One ranked list of what to do next on every dashboard (personal, team, organisation, mobile). No hand-set priorities. Urgency, staleness and the kind of work decide the order, and the list keeps going.

What it is

The first card on your dashboard answers one question: what should I do next? It is not a list of everything. It is ranked: the web card shows five and loads the next five as you scroll it, as far as the list goes. The mobile card shows six with "See all" opening the rest.

The greeting countdown (soonest session, show or release) is separate. It does not replace this list.

What can land there: a track or album release coming up and what it is still missing (ISRC, pre-save link), a task with a deadline, a milestone due, a lead or promoter you promised to follow up, a label pitch nobody answered, a show or studio session next week, a release worth a post, a track that has been sitting untouched. Something due soon or a few days late reads in red.

Once a track has three or more tasks more than a month past due, they stop taking a row each and collapse into one stack: the artwork fans out like a pile of sleeves with the count on its corner, and the row reads "nothing done since May". Click it and the tasks open in a popover beside the row. The stack row carries the same three controls as any other row, acting on the whole pile: snooze all, not doing these, and the track's own menu, on hover or by right-click. Past a month the rows also stop counting days and show the date instead: "136 days overdue" nine times over is what makes people scroll past the card rather than clear it.

Right-click a row, or open the "..." that shows on hover, for the row's menu: on a track or album it is the same menu as everywhere else (pages, status, add to playlist, delete), on anything else it opens the item. Snooze and hide sit at the bottom of every row menu. The cog lists the kinds this dashboard can show, grouped by what they are about (tracks, albums, posts, sessions, shows, leads, milestones); switch a group's kinds off and they stop landing here. The cog, like every widget's header controls, shows while you hover or focus the widget.

Managers see their own version on the organisation dashboard: everything the booking side owes a reply on, plus one row per artist team that has stopped moving.

There are no priority settings. The order comes from how close the date is, how long the thing has been sitting, and how much finishing it moves you forward. Add a release date or a deadline and the next step shows up by itself.

Not everything belongs on your list. Hover a row and hit the eye to hide it (Undo in the toast if you slip). The cog on the card switches whole kinds off, say stale tracks, and brings back anything you hid one by one.
