Work in split screen
Put up to five pages side by side, float one in a small window, or tuck it away in the rail.
The desktop window can show up to five things side by side.
Open a page beside another
- Hold Alt (Option on a Mac) and click a link, a page in Links or anything on the rail. It opens beside what you are reading.
- Or drag a rail button or a Links page onto the page. An outline shows where it lands:
- The middle of a pane replaces what it shows.
- The left or right third opens a new pane on that side.
- The band along the bottom floats it.
Press Escape mid-drag to call it off. Drag the dividers to resize panes.
Each extra pane has a header with back, float, open in the main pane and close. Click its address to type another.
Float a window
Float lifts a pane into a phone-sized window over the page, so a website shows its mobile layout.
- Drag its bar to move it. Resize it from any edge.
- Double-click the bar to switch between phone and tablet size.
- Its "…" menu zooms, docks it beside the page or opens it in the main pane.
- Drag it against the page's left or right edge to dock it there.
Drag it off the app's edge, or choose Open in its own window, to give it a window of its own.
Minimise it
Press minimise, or ⌘M, and the window shrinks into a small tab at the foot of the rail. Click the tab and it comes back exactly where it was, without reloading. ⌘K lists each one as Restore.
Come back to a split
While a split is on screen, the rail shows it under Links as a row of small tiles. Leave for another screen and click it later to bring the whole split back. The rail keeps the last four.
