Learn a song on guitar
Turn any song into tab you can play at your speed, heard through your microphone and scored, with a tuner built in.
The Guitar coach turns any song into tab and listens while you play it. Free, no account needed.
Add a song
- Open the Guitar coach. Ode to Joy is built in.
- Press Add a song, or drop a file on the coach: a MIDI file, or a recording that's turned into notes in your browser.
Songs are shared with the Piano coach: a song added on one is on the other.
Read the tab
The notes roll toward the "now" line, each on its string with its fret. Under it, the neck lights what to play now and outlines what's next. The coach picks where to play each note so your hand moves as little as possible, and keeps chords to what four fingers can hold.
Practise your way
- Melody or Bass picks what you play. The rest plays along.
- The speed menu slows it down, and the note button picks the sound.
- Press a section above the screen to loop it.
Play along
- Press the microphone button.
- Play. Each note is listened for as it comes, and the take is scored.
While it listens, your part stays silent so the coach hears your guitar, not the speakers. A MIDI guitar or keyboard works too, in the settings, where the song can also wait at each note until you play it.
Tune up
Press the tuning fork, Tuner, in the bar. It shows the note, how many cents off you are, which way to turn, and the nearest string.
Songs and best takes stay in this browser. The microphone is never recorded.
