Search Aden from any app

Open Aden's search over whatever you are doing, find tracks and files, launch apps or create something from selected text.

Press ⌃Space (Control+Space) in any app and Aden's search opens over it. Aden has to be running; sitting in the menu bar is enough.

Find anything

Type and press Enter. Search finds:

  • Teams, pages and screens of Aden.
  • Your team's tracks. Pick one to see its cover, status, linked folder and every action for it.
  • DAW projects, audio and MIDI anywhere on your computer. Inside a folder linked to a track it finds every file, so artwork and split sheets come up by name or by the track's title.
  • Music apps on your computer. Type "ableton" or "serato" to launch one.
  • Settings. Type "clear cache" and it opens Settings on that switch.

A cloud on a row means the file has a copy in Aden. Hover an audio file's icon to play it. Click "…" on a row, or press ⌘K on it, for its actions: open in your DAW, start or link a track, share, show in Finder, send it as a transfer.

With nothing typed, you see what you opened lately.

Search by voice

Press ⌃⇧Space to open it listening. Say what you are looking for and the words land in the search.

Create from selected text

  1. Select words in any app: Notes, Mail, a browser.
  2. Press ⌥⌘C (Ctrl+Alt+C on Windows).
  3. Pick New track, Studio session, Todo or something else.

Aden opens quick create with the line filled in. Nothing is saved until you confirm. On a Mac this needs Accessibility permission the first time.

Ask Aden or message someone

  • Type a question and press Enter, or pick Ask Aden. Chat opens with your message sent.
  • Type a name for "Message" followed by that person.
  • With a page like SoundCloud open, search offers what you can do with it: ask for a review, save it as a reference, send it to a recent chat. Nothing goes out until you press send.

Change the shortcut

Go to Settings → General → Search shortcut, click the shortcut and press the keys you want. The shortcut for creating from text is under Create from selection.
