Share a file with your team
Move a file like the team's finance sheet into a team, keep opening it in Excel, and everyone gets each other's saves.
A file you keep on your computer can live in a team instead. You keep opening it in Excel or whatever app you use, and everyone works on the same file.
Move a file to a team
Pick one:
- From the rail: right-click a pinned file, choose Move to team…, pick the team and confirm.
- From Finder: right-click the file, open Quick Actions and pick Aden's Move to Team. On Windows it is in the file's menu.
- From ⌘K: type "move to team" or "share file".
The file moves under Team Documents in the team's sync folder. If the team has no folder on this computer yet, Aden sets one up and turns on live sync. The pin keeps working and wears the team's picture.
Get a teammate's changes
When someone saves a newer version, the pin gets a dot. Click it, or right-click and choose Get the new version. Close the file in Excel first: the app can't swap a file that is open.
If two people save at once, nobody loses work. The second save is kept beside the file as a conflicted copy with that person's name and the date.
See or delete it
- Right-click the pin and choose Show in your team to open its Documents page.
- To remove it from the team, right-click and choose Delete from your team, then Delete for everyone. Your copy stays on your computer and stops syncing.
Saves go up a few seconds after you save. This is file sync, not live co-editing. For two people typing in the same sheet at once, pin the Google Sheets or OneDrive link instead.
