Local backups

Download files as a zip before deleting them from storage, and keep a per-team registry of which hard drive each backup lives on so deleted files can always be found back.

Back up big video files to your own drive before cleaning up

Large video files are usually what fills your storage. When cleaning up on Plan → Usage, you don't have to choose between paying for space and losing them:

  1. Select the video files you want to move out of Aden (backups are available for video files over 100 MB) and click Back up….
  2. Tell Aden where you'll keep the backup. The drive's name (like "LaCie 2TB") and optionally a folder.
  3. Aden downloads everything as one zip (including a manifest listing every file) and, if you leave the checkbox on, deletes the files from your storage to free up space.

Every backup is remembered under Local backups on the same page. Search by file name or drive to find where any backed-up file lives, even years after it was removed from Aden. Removing a backup entry only deletes the note, never the files on your drive.
