Mixes

What it is

A mix is a single, continuous DJ recording. The kind of long audio file a DJ plays at a set, uploads to Mixcloud, or airs on a radio show. Unlike tracks (individual stems and masters), a mix is one audio file that gets its own page, cover art, external platform links, and broadcast schedule.

Mixes belong to a team. Other teams can be credited as collaborators (e.g. a supporting DJ, a promoter), and each mix can list the tracks it contains as a tracklist, backed by a playlist crate, so listeners know what was played.

One mix, many uses. Every mix can be tagged with one or more types: DJ mix, radio show, guest mix, live set, podcast, studio mix, or other (custom tags allowed): so the same tools serve all of them and a mix can be several things at once (a recorded set that is also a guest mix on a radio show). A radio show is simply a mix tagged radioshow: a recurring mix that airs on a schedule (via airings) and, together with an episode number, forms a series. The Radio shows entry in the app is the Mixes list pre-filtered to that tag; there is no separate radio-shows table or page.

Using it

Create a mix. Go to your team's Mixes page and click New mix. Pick the team the mix belongs to from the selector in the page header (defaults to your active team; switching it reloads the available tracks, events, and plan limits for that team). Give it a title, one or more types (searchable multi-select: a mix can be a set that is also a guest mix on a radio show; custom types allowed), an optional episode number, genre, release date, and whether it is visible to the public. You can also link it to an event where it was played. Arriving from the Radio shows nav preselects the Radio show type. Filter the Mixes list by type, and each non-DJ mix shows its type tags (and episode #) as badges.

The mix detail page is organised into tabs, Tracklist, Links, Airtime, Collaborators and Details: under a hero header with the cover art, play button and a blurred-cover background. Deleting a mix asks for confirmation first.

Upload audio. On the mix detail page (Tracklist tab) or while creating the mix, upload the audio file (mp3, flac, wav, etc. Ultra plan and up). The file goes straight to cloud storage; the mix stores the key and format, and the duration + waveform are analysed automatically after upload.

Add a cover. Upload a cover image on the detail page. The cover is stored in mix_covers and the mix points to it immediately so the page updates without a delay.

Build the tracklist. Open the Tracklist tab and click Add tracks the picker opens inline right below the tracklist (team library plus external imports). The tracklist is a playlist crate created automatically the first time you add a track (or via the one-click Start tracklist button): you can add more later one by one or in bulk.

Export for PROs. For any mix that isn't a plain DJ mix (radio show, podcast, live set, …), the tracklist Export menu adds a cue sheet .csv: every track played, in order, with ISRC/ISWC, cue time and the mix/episode/air-date context: the music-usage report collecting societies (SABAM, PRS, ASCAP, BMI, GEMA…) need to distribute broadcast royalties.

Link to streaming platforms. Under the links section, add URLs to Spotify, Mixcloud, SoundCloud, Apple Music, YouTube, or any other platform. The first link you add is automatically the primary one; you can promote any link to primary later. The primary link is what's shown on your public profile page.

Schedule airings. If the mix airs regularly on a radio show or podcast, add an airing: the station (organisation), the day and time, how long the slot runs, and how often it repeats (daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or a one-off date). Give the series a first air date and, if it ends, a last one. Every airing shows when it next airs, and you can pause a series when the show is on a break instead of deleting it. Add as many airings as the mix has slots.

See everything that's coming up. Mixes → Schedule lists every upcoming airing across all your mixes in date order, and groups the recurring series per show so you can edit, pause or remove a slot from one place.

Credit other teams. Under collaborators, link other Aden teams to the mix with a role (e.g. resident, guest). Invite by team slug or share an invite URL. Invited teams must accept before their credit appears publicly.

Publish it. Toggle the mix to public so it appears on your profile. While private it is only visible to your team.
