Sharing & upload links

What it is

Share links let you send a track, album, mix, or playlist to anyone. A label A&R, a mixing engineer, a manager, without giving them an Aden account. The recipient opens a branded listen page in their browser. You control whether they can leave comments and whether they can download the file.

Upload links work the other direction: you send someone a link and they can drop files into it. The files land directly in your team's documents, media gallery, track covers, or as a received transfer. All from a simple drag-and-drop page, no account needed.

Using it

Sharing a track

1. Open any track and go to its Share tab.
2. Click New share link. Choose which version to share (or leave it on the current version), whether comments and downloads are allowed, and optionally set an expiry date.
3. Copy the generated link and send it. You can also click Send by email to fire off a branded email directly from Aden.
4. The recipient opens the link. They can listen, leave time-stamped comments, and download if you enabled it.

You can create multiple share links for the same track (for example, one for feedback and one for download-only distribution). Manage and revoke them from the same Share tab.

Letting people add versions back

By default a share link is read-only. Turn on Let visitors add versions (in the share dialog's More options, or on the share's card afterwards) and anyone with the link can upload a new version of the track from the share page.

They have to be signed in to Aden. The upload is credited to their account, so you always know who sent what. They don't need to be on your team. What they add arrives as a plain new version: never marked final, no tags, nothing renamed. Promoting it is still your call.

Visitors who aren't signed in see the box with a sign-in link rather than nothing at all, so the option never looks broken.

Let visitors add stems does the same for layers instead of versions: anyone signed in can drop a hook or a harmony on top of the track from the share page, and everyone with the link hears the result stacked over the song. Good for "send me your ideas". You keep the version, they add to it.

Watermarking what you send

Turn on Watermark the audio in the Share dialog and your tag plays over the music on the share page and gets mixed into downloads. Tags are managed in Settings → Watermarks (per team, or per organisation for a house tag): see the watermarks help page.

Sending a track or album straight into a chat

The Share dialog also has a Send to chat mode. Instead of copying a link, pick who to send it to and it lands as a card in your in-app chat, no need to leave the app. You can send to:

• People: a teammate, or anyone on Aden who has turned on their public profile (search them by name).
• Teams: one of the teams you're connected with.
• Organisations: one of your organisations (it goes into that org's shared chat).

Add an optional message and hit Send. A share link is still created behind the scenes, so the recipient can listen even if they're not on your team.

Sending a track as a demo

From the track Share dialog, switch to Send as demo, pick a team, and send. The track drops into that team's demo inbox exactly like a demo submission, the team is notified, and they can listen right away.

Sharing an album, mix, or playlist

The same flow applies: open the item, find its Share panel, create a link. For albums you can optionally restrict which tracks inside the album the link exposes (per track: all versions, final only, or hidden), and toggle See cover art to show or hide the album and track artwork on the public share page: the same cover toggle available on track shares.

Label copy on a share

Track shares carry a Label copy switch, on by default. It decides whether the person opening the link can read and export the track's label copy: credits, splits and identifiers. Switch it off to send the music without the paperwork: the Label copy button disappears and the copy page stops opening for that link.

Building a playlist from several tracks and sharing it in one step

From the Tracks list, select multiple tracks (Cmd/Ctrl-click a card, or tick the checkboxes) and click Playlist & share in the selection toolbar. A dialog lets you name the playlist and, for each track, choose exactly what the share exposes:

• Full track: every version of that track is visible on the share page.
• Latest version: only the newest version.
• Specific version: one exact version you pick from that track's list.

Set the usual share options (comments, downloads, description, expiry, custom link), optionally make the playlist public, and hit Create & copy link. Aden creates the playlist, adds the tracks in order, and generates one playlist share link whose per-track version choices are baked in, so a single link can mix "here's the whole track" with "here's just this one bounce" track by track.

Creating an upload link

1. From your team's Documents or a track's media section, create an upload link.
2. Give it an optional title, expiry date, and upload limit.
3. Copy the link and send it, or click Invite to email it directly.
4. The recipient visits the link, drags in their files (audio, artwork, documents: whatever you asked for), optionally leaves their name and a note, and submits.
5. The files appear in your team instantly.

Seeing who visited your shared links

Every visit to a share link is tracked, even when the visitor has no Aden account. Open the track's Analytics tab and scroll to Shared link visits to see, per link: total visits, unique visitors, plays, and a log of each individual visit with the exact time, location (city and country), device and browser. Visitors who have an Aden account (or create one later) show up by name and email; everyone else appears as an anonymous listener. This is how you know exactly who showed interest after you dropped a demo to a group of people.

You also see how long each visitor actually listened: a per-link listen time, a total time-listened counter, and the listened duration next to each play in the visit log.

Want to know the moment someone opens a link? Turn on Notify me on every visit when creating (or editing) a share link and Aden sends you a notification when a visitor opens it. At most one per visitor every six hours, so a busy link doesn't flood you.

Under More options there's also Notify me on every play (off by default): instead of alerting on page opens, it alerts the moment a visitor actually presses play on the shared track, with the same per-visitor rate limiting.
