Remix sharing

What it is

You remix other people's tracks, and you'd love people to hear those remixes on your public profile. But a remix of someone else's copyrighted song usually can't be distributed the way your own releases are, no DSP release, and often no file you're allowed to hand out yourself.

This feature is the middle path. A remix lives on your profile as a normal track, discoverable through a Tag filter on your public Tracks page, so a fan can narrow your catalogue down to just your remixes. Each remix shows the original it's based on, and, this is the important part, fans can listen to it in-page straight from an external host (a SoundCloud embed, or a direct Dropbox / hosted-mp3 stream) before they download it. The audio plays from that external host, so your remix is heard without your profile serving the copyrighted file.

Showing that in-page player on your public profile is a Pro-and-above feature. The tag filter and everything else fans see stay available to everyone, and the link itself saves on any plan (it is also how tracks are migrated into Aden, see Add a track by pasting a link). The gate is only on the public player.

How to use it

1. Add the remix as a track and tag it (e.g. remix). Tags become the filter options on your public Tracks page.
2. In the track's Settings → Original Track section, fill in the Original Track Title / Artist (so the "Remix of …" credit shows), then paste a Listen link: a SoundCloud track URL, a Dropbox share link, a Google Drive link, or a direct audio URL. Aden works out how to play it from the address.
3. On your public track page a "Listen to the remix" player appears: SoundCloud links embed the SoundCloud widget; Dropbox / direct links stream in a small audio player.
4. If you want to give the remix away, add a free download as usual. You can point the download at an external host (SoundCloud/Hypeddit/Dropbox) so the file is never served from your profile, and keep the email / follow gate.

Where fans see it

• Your public Tracks page (/@yourteam/tracks): a Tag filter to jump to remixes, with a "Remix of …" line on each remix card.
• The public track page: the original it's linked to, the in-page listen player, and any free download.
