Announcements

Admin- and organisation-managed broadcasts. Banner announcements with audience targeting (platform, all orgs, one org, one team, one user), links to platform pages and external sites, optional push/email delivery, and optional calendar-event dates that put important industry deadlines on the audience's calendars.

What it is

Announcements are short broadcasts shown as a banner in the app header. Aden admins can announce platform-wide; organisation admins can announce to their own organisation, one of its artist teams, or a single person.

An announcement can also carry an event date: think "Grammy online entry opens", "DJ Mag Top 100 voting closes", or a festival application window. When it does, the date lands directly on the calendar of everyone in the audience, so nobody misses an important industry deadline:

  • Everyone (platform): every user's calendar.
  • An organisation: the org's members and every member of the artist teams the org manages.
  • One team: that team's calendar.
  • One user: that person's personal calendar.

Using it

  1. Open Announcements (admins: /admin/announcements; organisation admins: your org's Announcements page).
  2. Create an announcement, pick the audience, and tick Add to calendars.
  3. Choose the event date, an optional end date (for windows like a submission period), and a category. Award, submission deadline, voting, festival, conference, chart, or release.
  4. Save. The date appears on the audience's Aden calendars as an all-day entry, with a link for more info. Teams that sync their Aden calendar to Apple/Google/Outlook get the date there too.

Deactivating the announcement (or unticking Add to calendars) removes the entry from calendars again.

An announcement can point people somewhere, both at a page inside Aden and at anything on the web.

  • Button link: the destination of the button under the announcement. Type an in-app path (/app/tracks) or a full URL, or hit Pages to search the platform's pages and pick one.
  • Links inside the message: hit Add link above the message, write the words the reader clicks, and pick the destination. Bare URLs you paste into the message are linked automatically.

Aden pages open in the app; anything external opens in a new tab, so nobody loses the page they were on. Destinations Aden can't open (anything that isn't an in-app path, http(s), mailto: or tel:) are refused on the button and stay plain text in the message.

Two extra controls keep things tidy:

  • Show as banner: untick it for calendar-only dates that shouldn't take over every dashboard. The announcement then never shows as a header banner; it only lives on calendars (and in any push/email you send).
  • On the calendar, Important dates is its own filter toggle. Like Music, Albums, and Posts, anyone can hide or solo them from the calendar legend.
