Record over a track

Sing over a version in the browser, redo single lines, and save the take as a stem.

Wear headphones, or the track bleeds into your microphone.

Record a take

  1. Open the version's Stems tab.
  2. Click in the track lane where you want to start.
  3. Choose Record over the track. The song rolls in a bar early and the mic goes live.
  4. Press the transport to pause. The part you sang is kept. Drag the marker and record the next part, or drag it back over a bad line and record over it.
  5. Press ✓ to end the take.

Undo throws away the last part. The mic button picks your input, even mid take.

Redo one line

Drag across the strip at the top of the recording lane to pick the line, then record. The take punches in at the start of the line and out at its end. Record again for another try: takes stack in rows and the newest plays. Press any take to use it instead, or drag its sides to keep only the best words.

Hear yourself

  • The headphones button plays your voice back through the effects. Use wired headphones.
  • The waveform button under the lane turns your earlier takes on or off.
  • The metronome clicks on the song's beats while you record.

Save it

The take stays a draft. Play it against the track, move it, rename it, then Save stem. Discard draft throws it away. Takes are saved as 24 bit WAV at your mic's own quality, with no noise suppression in between.

To redo part of an existing stem, pick Record into stem in its … menu.

Record without an account

The free vocal recorder at tools.aden.space/record does the same over any beat you drop in. Download each take as a WAV, or Save to Aden to make a track with the beat as its audio and each take as a stem.
