Record vocals into a project

Sing into a project's arrangement from the browser, and swap a drum sound for one you make in the drum tools.

You need project edit access for both.

Record vocals

  1. Open the project's player and press Record, or choose Record vocals in the project's … menu or ⌘K.
  2. The song rolls from the playhead while you sing. Drag the marker to drop in elsewhere.
  3. Stop. The take joins the arrangement on its own lane, named with the bar it starts on, like "take 1 (bar 17)".
  4. Move, delete or undo takes like any clip.
  5. Press Save to keep them.

The click, backing level, monitoring and vocal effects work as they do on a version. Takes are kept as 24 bit WAV, ready for the DAW.

Where the takes go when you save:

  • REAPER and DAWproject: written into the project as clips on a new track, at the bar you sang them. Pull the project and they're there.
  • Every other DAW: added to the project folder, in an Aden Takes folder, each named with its bar. Pull the project and drag each one in.

Swap a drum sound

  1. Click a drum lane's name in the player.
  2. Pick Open in Kick tool, or the clap, hi-hat, snare, crash or rumble tool. The lane's name says which.
  3. The drum tool opens in a new tab with the lane's sample loaded. Shape it.
  4. Press Send to the project. The lane plays the new sound at once, for everyone listening. ⌘Z in the project takes it back.
  5. Press Save in the project to write it as the next version.

The new sound is added to the project folder and the original sample is kept. Pull the project in the desktop app and your DAW plays the new sound.
