Shape a stem's sound
Add tuning, tone, reverb and delay to a vocal, match a stem to the track's key, and clean up a voice.
None of this changes the recording. The file stays the dry take, and the changes play over it.
Add vocal effects
- Open a stem's … menu and pick Vocal effects.
- Start from a sound: Clean, Tuned, Tuned + space, Hard tune or Lo-fi.
- Adjust Tune, Tone, Reverb and Delay.
- Tune snaps the voice to the track's key. Subtle glides to each note; Hard jumps to it. Pick another key in the same popover.
- Tone is Studio, cleaner and brighter, or Lo-fi, a crunchy phone sound.
- Delay follows the song's tempo.
- Low cut, High cut and Compress take out rumble, harshness and uneven level. They start off.
A stem with effects shows a wand on its row. Downloading it asks: with effects, or dry. Anyone can try effects in their own mix; editors save them as the stem's sound.
The track lane has the same wand, so a whole version can play through effects. Its menu then offers Download with effects. The phone app plays stems and versions dry and says when they have effects.
Match a stem to the track's key
Every stem shows its key beside its volume. A key that fits the version's reads quietly; one that clashes shows in a warning colour.
- Press the key to open a key wheel. Tap any key to play the stem there, or press Match to the track's key.
- Or scroll over the key to step through keys.
The shift shows on the row, like +3 Am. With the Stems tab open, ⌘K offers to match every stem at once.
Clean up a voice
Open a stem's menu and choose Clean up voice. It works on saved stems, picked files and fresh takes. The cleaned copy arrives as a muted draft at the same spot: unmute it to compare, then save or discard it. It's made for speech, so singing and music may change.
Files must be under 500 MB and one hour. You can run up to 12 cleanups or splits an hour.
Turn a stem into MIDI
Extract MIDI in a stem's … menu finds the notes of a single line, like a voice, bass or lead, and opens them in the piano roll. See Edit MIDI.
