Add and arrange stems

Upload the parts you bounced, place each one on the timeline, and mix them against the track.

Upload stems

  1. Open the version's Stems tab.
  2. Click Upload stems, or Add stem then Upload files. Pick as many files as you like, or drop a whole stem folder on the mixer.
  3. Each stem lands at the start of the track, ready to move.

A stem plays from the moment you pick it. Press the ✗ on a lane while it uploads to stop it, with nothing saved.

Other places stems come from

  • A comment: a voice memo or audio file on a comment has Add as stem. It lands at the comment's timestamp.
  • Your samples: Add stem, then From your samples, searches the libraries your desktop app synced and drops the pick at the playhead.

Place them

  • Drag a stem's block along its lane, or focus it and use the arrow keys. Hold Shift for five second jumps.
  • The stem's … menu starts it at the playhead or back at the beginning.
  • Hover a block to see where it starts, and type an exact start like 1:30.25.
  • Click anywhere in a lane to move the playhead there.

Mix them

The song sits on top and every lane has the same controls. The speaker mutes; hover it for the volume, and on a stem, left and right. Solo sits by the name. Type in a stem's name to rename it.

Work on several at once

Hover a lane and its icon turns into a checkbox. Tick stems and a bar at the bottom moves, downloads, shares or deletes them together. Download all sits next to Add stem once there's more than one stem.

Make a stem the main audio

Make main in a stem's … menu makes it the version's own audio. The old audio stays as a muted stem, so you can swap back. It's how a phone voice note becomes the take that plays.

Full screen

The button at the end of the track lane opens the mixer full screen, with a ruler in bars and zoom. Escape leaves it.

On your phone

The version's Stems tab plays every stem with the song and records new ones. Move a stem with the arrows on its row, or pin it at the playhead.
