Set up the player
Show a waveform, change speed, crossfade between tracks, repeat, go full screen or float the player.
The player's own options sit under Audio player in its … menu.
Progress bar
Progress bar switches between a plain slider and the track's waveform. Click or drag either one to move through the song. Aden remembers your choice on this device.
Speed
Speed plays from 0.5x to 2x without changing the pitch.
Crossfade
Crossfade decides how one track hands over to the next in the queue.
- Smart, the default, plans each handover from the two tracks. With steady kicks at close tempos, the next track comes in on a downbeat and takes over the bass halfway, so two kicks never clash. Otherwise it cuts on the bar line, or blends past silence and fade outs.
- Or pick Off, 0.5, 1, 2 or 5 seconds, or type any length up to 30.
The album page has the same control.
Repeat
Repeat is on by default: when a track ends with nothing after it, it plays again. A queue still plays through first. Switch it off to stop at the end.
Crossfade and repeat are account settings, shared with the phone app.
Full screen
Full screen, or "full screen player" in ⌘K, fills the screen with a turning vinyl, the title and the waveform. Made for a big screen or for filming. The disc button switches between Disc, Dark disc and Cover. Controls fade while the music plays; move the mouse to bring them back. Esc leaves.
Size and position
- Float player turns the bar into a small card you can drag and resize anywhere. Dock player puts it back.
- Minimize tucks it away.
- Drag the top edge of the docked bar to make it taller, with a bigger cover and waveform. Double-click the edge to reset.
