Shape playback with the EQ

Boost or cut frequencies while a version plays, change pitch or speed, and attach the EQ to a comment.

The player has a built in equalizer over a live spectrum. Use it to hear what a change would do, then send that change to your collaborators as feedback.

On Pro and up.

Shape what you hear

  1. Play a version.
  2. Click the loudness readout above the waveform, or the equalizer button in the comment box, to open the EQ.
  3. Drag a point left and right for frequency, up and down for gain.
  • Hover a point for its toolbar: pick its shape (low cut, low shelf, bell, notch, band pass, high shelf, high cut), Bypass it, hold Solo to hear only that band, or remove it.
  • Scroll over a point to make it wider or narrower.
  • Double-click empty space to add a band; double-click a point to remove it.
  • The EQ switch turns it all off and on, for a quick before and after.
  • Heat switches the spectrum to a scrolling heat map.

Auto gain, on by default, keeps the overall volume steady as you boost or cut, and shows how much it applies. The loudness row shows momentary, short term and integrated LUFS, and how far streaming services will turn the master down.

While anything is engaged, the readout above the waveform stays visible and says what's on, so you never forget the EQ is shaping the sound.

Pitch and speed

  • Pitch shifts the song up or down by up to 12 semitones without changing speed.
  • Speed plays from 0.5x to 2x without changing pitch.

They're for your own listening and reset when you leave. The reset button clears them along with the bands.

Attach the EQ to a comment

  1. Dial in the change you'd make, like less mud or more air.
  2. Click Add to comment. The curve attaches and the start time is set to the playhead.
  3. Set an end time if you like, write your note and post.

Anyone reading clicks Hear to play that section with your EQ, pitch and speed applied.
