Build a drum kit

Put six drums and a groove together, tune them to each other, and export the loop as WAV or MIDI.

The Drum kit puts a kick, snare, clap, hi-hat, crash and rumble together, looping a groove.

Start a kit

  1. Open the Drum kit.
  2. Step through ready kits with the arrows on the display, or open its menu to pick one by style: techno, house, hip hop and trap, breaks and bass, hard and trance. Each comes with its groove and tempo.
  3. Press play. The bar loops at its tempo, and the step you hear is marked.

Edit the groove

  • Open Groove above the steps to play another groove at its tempo, from techno and UK garage to drill, reggaeton, drum & bass and hardstyle. Type to search. The sounds stay.
  • Switch the view to Drum set to see the kit as a real 3D drum set, hit in time with the loop. Drag to turn it, and tap any part to hear it and read what it is.
  • Click a step to add or remove a hit.
  • Drag a hit along its row to move it.
  • ⌘Z undoes, ⇧⌘Z redoes.

Make it fit

  • Fit together tunes the snare and rumble to the kick and evens out the levels, kick on top.
  • Under the kit are four kits like it. Play one, or press Dig to make it the kit and get four more.
  • Each drum's chip opens its own page with that sound loaded. Everything you change there plays in the kit straight away. Press Drum kit beside the title to go back.

Take a kit from a song

  1. Drop a song on the page, or press From a song.
  2. The kit becomes the song's drums, playing the bar they play there, at its tempo and levels.
  3. To undo, press the × beside the song's name.

Export

  • The loop as a WAV that loops cleanly.
  • The groove as MIDI for a drum rack.
  • The six sounds in a zip.

Drag the Export button onto a DAW track to drop the loop there.

On a phone, sound plays even with the silent switch on.
