Use the Camelot wheel

See a key's Camelot code, the keys it mixes with and how far to pitch, then hear its scale and chords.

The Camelot wheel shows which keys mix together. The Key finder turns it into a tool you can tap.

Look up a key in ⌘K

In ⌘K, in Aden or on tools.aden.space, type a key such as "E minor", "Em" or "9A". The row shows its Camelot code, its relative key and the keys it mixes with. Type a change such as "B major to C minor" to see how many semitones to move.

Set your key and a target

  1. Open the Key finder. Your key starts on A minor.
  2. Press it to pick a key, tap the wheel, or step a semitone with minus and plus.
  3. Press Add target and pick the key you want to reach. The middle of the wheel shows how many semitones to pitch.

Pitching keeps the mode. Going from a minor key to a major target aims for the target's relative minor, which shares every note, so it mixes perfectly.

Hear the scale and chords

  1. Turn on Piano, Guitar or Chords in the chips at the top.
  2. The piano and guitar show the scale of the key, root note larger. Press a key or a dot to hear it.
  3. Chords lists the seven chords in the key. Press one to hear it and see it on the piano or guitar.

While the piano or guitar shows, your computer keyboard plays it: A plays C, and the row above plays the black keys. The note button beside the settings cog changes the sound.

Flats or sharps

The switch in the key picker spells every key with flats or with sharps, here and everywhere else in Aden.

Share a key change

Copy the page's address and paste it in Discord, iMessage or Slack. It previews as the wheel lit on your keys, with how far to pitch.

Start over puts the finder back to A minor with no target. Your tracks stay.
