Every upload from the phone keeps running after the app is backgrounded, with the system's own progress UI.
Uploads keep going in the background
Start an upload on your phone and switch to another app. It keeps running. On iOS 26 and newer you'll see a progress bar on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island; on Android an "Uploads" notification shows the same. Both let you stop the upload. If you stop it, nothing is saved and you can start it again later.
