Keeping Aden in the Dock and on audio files

The onboarding and Settings rows that pin Aden to the Dock or taskbar and hand it the default for audio files.

What it is

Two setup steps that decide whether Aden is somewhere you reach for or an app you go looking for: keeping it in the Dock (the taskbar on Windows), and making it the app that opens audio files, so a double-clicked track plays in Aden instead of Music or Media Player.

Both appear in the tour when you first sign in, and both stay in Settings → General afterwards, so skipping them costs nothing and changing your mind is one click.

Using it

  • Keep Aden in the Dock. On macOS the button does it for you and the Dock restarts to show the tile. On Windows there is no way for an app to pin itself, so the row tells you the two steps instead: right-click Aden in the taskbar, then "Pin to taskbar".
  • Open audio files with Aden. On Windows the button opens the Default apps settings page, where you pick a format and choose Aden. On macOS there is no such page: right-click any audio file in Finder, choose Get Info, set "Open with" to Aden, then "Change All".

A row that says "Done" means the OS confirmed it, not that you clicked something.
