# Compare versions
Source: https://docs.aden.space/docs/help/your-music/versions/compare-versions

Flip between two to six versions at the same spot in the song, with loudness matched so you judge the sound.
Compare plays your versions in sync, so switching from the mix to the master never stops or jumps. Only the sound changes. Each version plays its best quality file.

## Start a comparison [#start-a-comparison]

* Click **Compare** above the versions, tick 2 to 6 versions, then click **Compare**.
* Or pick **Add to A/B compare** in a version's **…** menu. Add more the same way.

## Switch between them [#switch-between-them]

Each version gets a lane: A, B, C. Click a lane to switch to it at the same spot, or click its waveform to switch there. Click or drag on any waveform to move every version together.

Keys: **Space** plays and pauses, the arrow keys or **1** to **6** switch, **Esc** closes.

## Aids in the header [#aids-in-the-header]

* **Match**, on by default: louder versions are turned down to the quietest, so louder never passes for better. A lane shows by how much.
* **Loudness**: a live LUFS meter and loudness map on every lane.
* **Loop**: repeat the same passage.
* **Blind**: hide the names, judge by ear, then reveal.
* **Auto**: moves to the next version every few seconds while it plays.

## Hold it up to a released song [#hold-it-up-to-a-released-song]

1. Press **+ Reference**, or drop a song on the panel.
2. The song plays as the last lane, matched like any version.
3. **Tone** shows, per band from sub to air, how much more or less each version has than the reference.

The reference stays on your device and is never uploaded.

## Comment at a spot [#comment-at-a-spot]

Under each waveform, a strip shows that version's comments. Click a marker to hear it from there, or click elsewhere on the strip to comment at that moment.

## Share a comparison [#share-a-comparison]

The page address holds the versions you picked. Copy it, and whoever opens it lands on the same comparison. It works on share links too.
