# Start or join a call
Source: https://docs.aden.space/docs/help/work-together/session-calls/start-a-call

Call from a session, a chat or ⌘K, set up your camera and mic, and keep working while the call runs.
## Start a call [#start-a-call]

* **In a session**: open it and press **Start call**, or **Join call** when others are in.
* **In a chat**: press the call button in the chat's header. It goes straight in with your mic, like a phone call, and the others can **Join call** from the header.
* **From ⌘K**: type "call" and a name to call someone in your chat with them, or "start session with" and a name to start a session now with them invited.
* **From your DAW**: in the desktop app, the project open in your DAW has **Start session**. On a Mac, tap fn while you work: **Start session** sits on the song's card. The session is about the project's track, the call opens with your screen shared, and **Share** shows the links to send so someone can join, point and take control.
* **On your phone**: a live session has **Join call** in the Aden app.

The join screen shows who is in and your camera. Check your devices, then press **Join**.

<Callout>
  A chat call becomes a session when you press

  **Start session**

   in it. That adds files, recording and notes, and everyone moves across with you. In the desktop app, the session is about the song open in your DAW.
</Callout>

## Set up once [#set-up-once]

Under **Devices**, pick your camera, mic, speakers and studio audio. Aden remembers them. You can also turn on **Noise reduction** to take out fans and traffic (leave it off when you sing or play into your mic), or **Lowest latency** on a strong connection.

The flip button beside your camera shows you to others the way you see yourself.

## Shortcuts [#shortcuts]

* Hold Space to talk while muted.
* ⌘D (Ctrl+D) mutes, ⌘E (Ctrl+E) turns your camera on and off.

## Keep working [#keep-working]

* Minimise the call to a bar at the bottom and keep using Aden. Click the bar to open it again.
* **Pop out** floats the call in a small window on top of your DAW, with faces, files and your controls.
* In the desktop app, each call opens in its own window. On a Mac it shrinks to a bar while your DAW is in front, and the notch shows who's in.
* Click anyone's camera or screen to show it big; the grid button brings everyone back.
* The side panel has **Files** and **Chat**. People who join later see what was said.

## Share files [#share-files]

Drop files on the side panel. They show up for everyone and are deleted when the session ends. Press **Keep** on a file to save it, or use **Upload and keep**. Drag any file straight into your DAW.
