# Set a goal
Source: https://docs.aden.space/docs/help/work-together/goals/set-a-goal

Describe a target like "3 tracks a month" in your own words, and let Aden count your progress for you.
Goals are targets like "release 2 tracks a month" or "post 3 times a week". They count your real activity (tracks made, posts published, sessions held), so the progress bar moves on its own. Goals can be yours, your team's or your organisation's.

## Create a goal [#create-a-goal]

1. Open **Goals** from your sidebar or your team.
2. Choose **New goal**.
3. Describe it in your own words, like "3 tracks finished every month", and let Aden fill in the fields.
4. Check what to count, the target, how often and the deadline. Change anything you like.
5. Choose **Create**.

## Set one from a chat [#set-one-from-a-chat]

Say it in a chat: "we should post content every week". A **Set a goal** suggestion appears above the reply box and opens the new goal with everything filled in. Nothing is saved until you choose **Create**.

## Grow by focus [#grow-by-focus]

A team's goals are grouped by focus: Socials, Releases, Studio, Live, Publishing, Money, Fans, or your own.

1. Choose **Add focus** and pick one. It starts with a suggested goal, like "Post 3 times a week" for Socials. Type a new name to make your own focus.
2. Press **+** beside a focus to add more of its suggested goals, or **Custom goal** to write one.
3. Click any title or number to change it in place.

Organisations can also start from a template with **Use template**.

## Goals from release plans [#goals-from-release-plans]

A goal you pick in a release plan shows up here too, counted until the release.
