# Hold dates and run residencies

Claim dates at your venue while you negotiate, rank your holds, and turn an agreed offer into a show.
## Hold a date [#hold-a-date]

A hold claims a date while you negotiate an offer. Holds are private: nothing reaches the artist until you share it.

1. Open your venue and go to **Holds**.
2. Choose **New prospect** and set the date.
3. Pick the artist if they're on Aden, or put their name in the title.
4. Set the hold rank: 1 gets first refusal, 2 is next in line.
5. Log calls and emails, set a follow up date, link the promoter and draft outreach as you go.
6. Once the offer is agreed, share it. The hold becomes a public show and the artist gets a booking invite.

## Run a residency [#run-a-residency]

1. Open your organisation's tours and choose **New tour**.
2. Set the residency to one of your venues. Every date in the run belongs to it.

Artists only see the shows they're booked on, not your organisation's tours.
