## What it is [#what-it-is]

Comments let you leave timestamped notes on a track version, react with emoji,
attach voice memos or files, and thread replies. All without leaving Aden.
The same system also covers comments on covers, playlist covers, team media,
milestones, and todos, so feedback stays in one place no matter what you're
reviewing.

The **feedback widget** (accessible from any page) is a separate channel for
reporting bugs or sharing improvement ideas directly with the Aden team. It
captures a screenshot and the exact page you're on so nothing gets lost.

## Using it [#using-it]

### Leaving a comment on a track version [#leaving-a-comment-on-a-track-version]

1. Open a track, switch to the **Versions** tab, and select the version you want
   to review.
2. Pin the comment to a moment or a section:
   * Click anywhere in the waveform to pin it to a single moment.
   * Hold **⌘ / Ctrl** and drag across the waveform to select a **section**: the
     start and end times pre-fill automatically.
   * Or use the small clock buttons in the composer to stamp the current playback
     position as the start (and end) time.
   * Leave the timestamps empty for a general note.
     Hover the clock button any time to see the section-select shortcut. It stays
     visible even before you press play, so you can discover the feature without
     guessing.
3. Type your comment. Mention a teammate with `@name` to notify them.
4. Optionally attach a voice memo (Pro and above) or a file (Ultra and above).
5. Submit: the comment appears in the thread immediately.

### Replying and reacting [#replying-and-reacting]

* Click **Reply** under any comment to start a sub-thread.
* Click the emoji button on any comment to react. Each user-emoji pair is unique
  (clicking the same emoji again removes your reaction).

### Seeing who a commenter is [#seeing-who-a-commenter-is]

A commenter appears under their **nickname** when they have set one, so an
artist's comments read as their act rather than their passport name. See the
`display-name` feature.

Hover any comment author's name or avatar to open their profile hovercard
their avatar, name, PRO name, and the teams they're on, with links to their
public profile and each team's public page. Clicking the name or avatar goes
straight to their public profile. Guest comments (left via a share link without
an account) have no hovercard. They're marked with a **Guest** badge instead.

### Pinning important comments [#pinning-important-comments]

Any team member can pin a top-level comment to the top of its thread. Handy for
keeping the key note ("use this mix", "label feedback here") visible above a long
discussion. Hover a comment and click the pin icon to pin it; pinned comments
show a **Pinned** badge and always sort first (most recently pinned on top).
Click the pin-off icon to unpin. Works everywhere comments do: track versions,
covers and media, documents, music videos, milestones, and todos. Replies can't
be pinned, and guests on share links can't pin.

### Commenting via a share link [#commenting-via-a-share-link]

If someone shared a track or playlist link with comments enabled, you can leave
a comment without an Aden account. The first time you send one, Aden asks for a
display name, and your comment appears alongside authenticated comments. You can optionally add your email too, if you
later create an Aden account with that email (or sign in from the same browser),
the comments you left as a guest are automatically linked to your account.

### Submitting feedback to the Aden team [#submitting-feedback-to-the-aden-team]

1. Click the feedback button (available in the app nav).
2. Describe the improvement or issue. Optionally add extra detail and let Aden
   capture a screenshot of the current page.
3. Submit: the Aden team sees your submission on their admin board and can
   reply with a status update.
4. Track it under **Your submissions** on the feedback page. Each ticket shows
   its current status, any written reply from Aden, and. Once a team member
   picks it up: a small **"Someone on the team is on this."** indicator so you
   know it's being worked on. (Who exactly it's assigned to stays internal.)
