# Message anyone on Aden
Source: https://docs.aden.space/docs/help/work-together/chat/message-anyone

Send a direct message to a teammate or someone new, handle chat requests, and decide who can find or reach you.
You can message anyone on Aden, whether or not you share a team.

## Message someone [#message-someone]

Hover anyone's name or face in Aden and choose **Send a message**. The chat opens right where you are. You can also search for people by name in chat.

## Chat requests [#chat-requests]

When you write to someone you've never worked with, your chat arrives as a request. It waits under **Requests** with your first message, without an unread badge, and they choose **Accept**, **Decline** or **Decline and block**. Replying accepts it too.

Neither of you sees the other's email or contact details, only a name and a picture.

## Stay out of search [#stay-out-of-search]

Turn off **Findable by name** in your account's privacy settings. People you already share a team, an organisation or a track credit with still find you. Nobody else does. The same switch is in the phone app.

## Mute or block someone [#mute-or-block-someone]

Hover their name or face:

* **Mute notifications** stops alerts about them. Their messages still show.
* **Block in chat** hides their messages, stops them starting a chat with you and keeps them out of yours.

You can review and lift both in your account's chat settings.

## Invite someone who isn't on Aden [#invite-someone-who-isnt-on-aden]

Use the invite attachment in a chat. They get an email, and the invite card in the thread shows whether they've accepted.
