# Turn on two-factor
Source: https://docs.aden.space/docs/help/start-here/account-security/two-factor

Add a second step at sign-in with an authenticator app, or approve it from your phone.
With two-factor on, signing in from a new browser or device asks for a six digit code as well as your password.

## Set it up [#set-it-up]

1. Go to **Account → Security** and find **Two-factor authentication**.
2. Scan the QR code with an authenticator app, like Google Authenticator or 1Password. On a phone, tap **Add to authenticator app** instead.
3. Enter the six digit code to confirm.

You can turn it off from the same place.

## Sign in with a code [#sign-in-with-a-code]

* The code is checked as soon as the sixth digit lands. Paste it into any box and all six fill in.
* On a phone, **Open authenticator app** opens your app in one tap. Pick your app once and it remembers.
* Tick **Trust this computer** to skip the code on this computer for 30 days, 90 days or a year. **Forget this computer** in your security settings undoes it.

## Approve on your phone instead [#approve-on-your-phone-instead]

When you are signed in to the Aden app on your phone, the code screen also shows **Approve on my phone**.

1. Tap it. Your phone gets a notification naming the browser and city.
2. Open it, tap **Approve** and confirm with Face ID.

If it wasn't you, tap **This wasn't me**. The desktop app's sign in offers the same button.
