# Change your password and recovery key

Change your password, and keep a recovery key so you can get back in without your email.
## Change your password [#change-your-password]

1. Go to **Account → Password**.
2. Enter your current password, then your new one twice. A checklist shows what it still needs, and a dot warns you if it has shown up in a data breach.
3. With two-factor on, enter your authenticator code when asked.

## Keep a recovery key [#keep-a-recovery-key]

Your recovery key is twelve words that let you set a new password even without access to your email. You get it right after signing up.

* Save it with **Download and continue**, or copy or print it. Keep it somewhere safe.
* Under **Account → Password** you can check your key or make a new one at any time.

Aden can't see your words, so if you lose them we can't recover them for you. Make a new key instead.

## Use your recovery key [#use-your-recovery-key]

1. On the sign in page, choose **Use your recovery key**.
2. Enter your email, the twelve words and a new password.
