# Choose your handle
Source: https://docs.aden.space/docs/help/promote/artist-profile/choose-your-handle

Pick the short address of your profile, and claim a handle that is held for you.
Your handle is the end of your address: aden.space/@orangepurple. Aden builds it from your name as you type it: "Orange Purple" becomes orangepurple, in lowercase letters and digits.

## Pick or change it [#pick-or-change-it]

1. Type your team name when you create the team. The handle fills in as you go.
2. Edit it if you want a different address. You can add a dash yourself; Aden won't add one for you.
3. To change it later, open **Settings → Info** for your team.

On the Free plan, six random characters follow your handle after a dash (orangepurple-a3f9k2). A paid plan gives you the clean address.

<Callout>
  Open aden.space/@yourname for a handle nobody holds and the page tells you it is still free. Claim it from there: Aden starts a new team with that address filled in.
</Callout>

## Claim a handle that is held for you [#claim-a-handle-that-is-held-for-you]

The handles of known artists, labels and agencies are held back so nobody else can take them first.

1. Type the handle. If it is held, you see **Verify it's yours**.
2. Enter your email at the domain it names, like [you@martingarrix.com](mailto:you@martingarrix.com).
3. Type the 6 digit code we email you. The handle is yours: finish creating the team, or save your settings.

If your Aden account already uses that email, there is nothing to verify. Can't receive mail at that domain? Email [reservedslug@aden.space](mailto:reservedslug@aden.space).
