# Run your own song catalogue
Source: https://docs.aden.space/docs/help/organisations/set-up/own-catalogue

For publishers and production houses: hold songs written to pitch, with every writer credited and split equally.
Publishers and production houses write songs to send out, not for one artist on the roster. A catalogue is a team your business owns, with the writers as its members. The songs live there, and splits, royalties, contracts and release plans work on them like on any team.

## Create a catalogue [#create-a-catalogue]

1. In your business, open **Import catalogue** and choose the **Own catalogue** tab.
2. Name the catalogue and choose its writers. The picker shows the split each one gets.
3. Click **Create catalogue**.
4. Bring the songs in from Dropbox, a spreadsheet or a Spotify playlist.

Run as many as you like: per genre, per year or per sub-label.

Only writers your business has verified can be put on a catalogue.

## Splits [#splits]

Every writer on the catalogue is credited on every song you import, split equally. Four writers means 25% each, across composition, master, publishing and sync.

That's the starting point. Open a song's collaborators to change the split, add a writer who wasn't on the catalogue, or remove one who wasn't in the room. The song's own split counts from then on.

## Place a song with an artist [#place-a-song-with-an-artist]

A placed song stays in the catalogue. Link the artist's team to the track, and the credit shows on both sides with the splits it was written under.
