# Quick notes
Source: https://docs.aden.space/docs/help/more/quick-notes

A scratchpad on your dashboard, your team's dashboard and its own page that reads what you write and offers to turn it into to-dos, milestones, a session or a track's lyrics. On the desktop it floats and is searchable from ⌘K and the launcher.

## What it is [#what-it-is]

One running note for you, and one shared note per team, with basic
formatting: bold, italic, strikethrough, headings, bulleted and numbered
lists and checklists. Type `**bold**`, `- `, `1. `, `[] ` or `## ` as you
write, use ⌘B and ⌘I, or select text for a small menu.

Aden reads what you write as you type and puts small cards above the sheet:

* **As to-dos / As milestones** for a bulleted list.
* **A session or show** for a day you mention ("Friday at 3").
* **A track** you name, opening its page.
* **Add as lyrics** for a block of lyric lines under a track's name.

A card opens its page in a small window, so you jot now and act later.

Select words and the menu over them also has **✦ Create**: the same cards
for just those words (a verse goes to the track the note names above it),
a new track, session or to-do, or **Something else…**, which hands the
words to quick create for Jev to read.

## Chat with Jev [#chat-with-jev]

On the Quick notes page, the ✦ button opens Jev beside the sheet. Ask about
the note to explore ideas, or tell Jev what to change ("tidy this into a
checklist") and the note updates. **Undo** under the reply puts it back.
The chat is not saved.

## Using it [#using-it]

* Open **Quick notes** from ⌘K, or from the widget on your dashboard.
* Switch between your notes and a team's with the picker beside the title.
* On the desktop, pin Quick notes to the rail from the rail's **+**, like any
page. Choosing the Songwriter view in onboarding pins it for you.
* On the desktop, ⌘K and the launcher (⌃Space) find any paragraph of your
notes by its words and float the sheet over what you're doing.
* In the mobile app, open **Notes** from Home or search. Tap the name above
the sheet to switch to a team's notes. Turn on **Diary** in Customize
dashboard to keep your diary there too.

## Apple Notes [#apple-notes]

On a Mac, turn on **Apple Notes in search** in the desktop app's Settings,
General. Your Apple Notes then show up in ⌘K and the launcher: pick one to
open it in Notes, or use its menu to add that one note to your Quick notes or
a team's. Nothing is copied into Aden until you add a note. The first time,
macOS asks whether Aden may control Notes.

Notes about songwriting (lyrics, hooks, song ideas, found by title, folder or
section markers like "Verse" and "Chorus") also show in **Recent** on the
desktop Home, among your files by when you last edited them.
