# DJ crates sync on the desktop

Crates from rekordbox, Serato, Traktor and Virtual DJ come into Aden with your own tracks linked, and your Aden playlists go out to those apps with the final version of each of your tracks.

## One table for every crate [#one-table-for-every-crate]

**DJ** in the desktop sidebar lists every crate Aden finds on this Mac, from
rekordbox, Serato, Traktor and Virtual DJ, next to your team's Aden
playlists. A crate you imported and the Aden crate it became are one row. So
are an Aden playlist and the copies Aden writes into your DJ apps.

Each row shows where it lives, how many tracks it has, how many of those are
**yours** (tracks in your team's catalogue), and which side is behind:

* **Only in rekordbox** (or Serato, Traktor, Virtual DJ): **Add to Aden**
  makes it an Aden crate. Your own tracks link to the real Aden tracks; the
  rest come in as external rows.
* **Only in Aden**: **Send to DJ apps** writes it into your DJ apps.
* **N new in rekordbox**: the crate gained tracks since you imported it.
  **Update Aden** adds only those.
* **N newer in Aden**: one of your tracks has a new final version, or has not
  been downloaded yet. **Update files** fetches it.

Tick several rows and press **Sync** to run them together. Rows that are
already linked and behind are ticked for you.

## Latest: your newest tracks, always in your DJ apps [#latest-your-newest-tracks-always-in-your-dj-apps]

The first row is **Latest from** your team: the 30 tracks updated most
recently. Turn on **Keep in DJ apps** and Aden downloads them and keeps the
playlist current on its own, checking on launch and every 30 minutes. New
tracks and new finals land in your DJ apps without opening Aden's DJ screen.
Turn it off to take the playlist out of your DJ apps; the audio stays.

## Inside a row [#inside-a-row]

Click a row's name to see its tracks. Each one says where its file stands:
**On this Mac**, **Newer in Aden** (a new final is waiting), **Not
downloaded**, or **Not on this Mac** for tracks that are not yours and that
none of your DJ libraries holds. On an Aden playlist, **Add your tracks**
searches your team's catalogue, and a track's remove button takes it out
again. A playlist that is sent follows into your DJ apps on its own.

## How your tracks reach your DJ apps [#how-your-tracks-reach-your-dj-apps]

Aden downloads the final version of each of your tracks (the newest version
when none is final) into `~/Music/Aden/Tracks`, in the best quality stored.
A new final replaces the audio at the same path, so cue points you set stay
on the file.

* **Serato**: an **Aden** crate folder appears on its own.
* **Virtual DJ**: playlists named `Aden - …` appear in its Playlists folder.
* **rekordbox**: point it at `~/Music/Aden/rekordbox.xml` once, under
  Preferences > Advanced > rekordbox xml > Imported Library. Your playlists
  then show under rekordbox xml, with BPM and key filled in.
* **Traktor** and anything else: import the `.m3u8` files in `~/Music/Aden`.

Tracks that are not yours are included when one of your DJ libraries on this
Mac has the file. The rest are skipped, and the sync says how many.

**Stop syncing** in a row's menu takes its playlist out of your DJ apps. The
Aden playlist, the DJ app's own crate and the downloaded audio stay.

If a library is not where Aden looked, open its chip at the top and choose
**Read from…**.
