# Missing plugins
Source: https://docs.aden.space/docs/help/make-music/missing-plugins

Your account knows which audio plugins you have, so a studio session or a track shows who is missing a plugin its project uses, with a link to go get it.

## What it is [#what-it-is]

A project only opens properly when you have every plugin it uses. Aden knows
which plugins you have, so when you work on a track or join a studio session
it tells you, before anyone opens the project, who is missing which plugin.

Plugins everyone has are never listed. Only the gaps show, as a warning:
"Jay is missing Serum". Each missing plugin is a link that searches the web
for it, so you land on the page to buy it or download it free.

## Using it [#using-it]

* **Your plugins fill in by themselves.** Open the Aden desktop app on each
computer you make music on. It reads the plugins installed there (AU, VST,
VST3, CLAP, AAX) and keeps your account up to date. A plugin on any of your
  computers counts as yours.
* **Add one by hand.** Go to Account > Skills & gear > Plugins and type its
name. Paste several at once, separated by commas. Remove one with the x
  beside it.
* **In a studio session**, look under the session's tracks on the right. If
someone in the session is missing a plugin one of those tracks' projects
uses, a warning row names them. Open it to see the plugins.
* **On a track**, open Files > Project files. A project someone is missing a
plugin for shows a warning button beside its play button.

People who never shared their plugins (no desktop app, nothing added) are not
flagged: Aden doesn't know, so it doesn't guess.
