# Proof of creation
Source: https://docs.aden.space/docs/help/free-tools/proof-tool

Get a free certificate, signed by a qualified EU timestamp authority, that your song or file existed today.
[Proof of creation](https://tools.aden.space/proof) gives you a certificate that a file existed on a given day: a song, a beat, a project, lyrics, artwork, anything. It's free and needs no account. Your file never leaves your device: only its fingerprint is sent to be stamped.

The timestamp is signed by a qualified timestamp authority, the Belgian government's service on the EU trusted list. Across the EU, it is presumed accurate both in its date and in the file being unchanged since.

<Callout>
  It proves when, not who. Keep your project files and drafts too.

Every version you upload to a track in Aden is stamped this way by itself. See [proof of creation in Aden](/docs/help/your-music/versions/proof-of-creation).
