# Learn a song on piano
Source: https://docs.aden.space/docs/help/free-tools/piano-coach

Add any song and play it back at your speed, with the notes falling onto the keys and every take scored.
The [Piano coach](https://tools.aden.space/piano) teaches you any song by playing it back at your speed. Free, no account needed.

## Add a song [#add-a-song]

1. Open the [Piano coach](https://tools.aden.space/piano). Ode to Joy is built in.
2. Press **Add a song**, or drop a file on the coach. A MIDI file works, or a recording (MP3, WAV or M4A) that's turned into notes in your browser.

The song menu lists what you're learning with your best take.

## Pick a view [#pick-a-view]

* **Waterfall**: notes fall onto the keys, coloured by hand, with finger numbers on the next ones.
* **Mirror**: your camera's picture of your own keys, with the notes landing on them.
* **Space**: the song as a 3D score with your take over it, missed notes outlined. Drag to turn it.

## Practise your way [#practise-your-way]

* L and R pick the hands you play. The song plays the other one.
* The speed menu slows it down.
* The note button picks the sound: pianos, electric piano and more, or a sampler from your own samples.
* Press a section above the screen to loop it.
* In **Settings**, the song can wait at each note until you play it.

## Play along [#play-along]

Connect a MIDI keyboard in **Settings**, or use your computer's home row (A is middle C). Each take is scored by the notes you hit in time.

## Use your camera [#use-your-camera]

1. Press the camera button.
2. In **Settings**, choose **Line up the camera with your keys**. The outline fits itself to your keys. Press **Find the keys** to fit it again, or drag the four dots onto the corners.
3. Pick your keyboard's size, from 25 to 88 keys.

Your hands then show over the keys in Waterfall, and over the picture in Mirror.

Songs, takes and progress stay in this browser. The camera picture never leaves it.
