# Compare your mix to a reference
Source: https://docs.aden.space/docs/help/free-tools/mix-reference-tool

Hear your mix and a released song level matched at the same spot, and see where your lows, mids and highs differ.
Hold your mix up to a released song you want it to sound like. [Mix vs reference](https://tools.aden.space/reference) is free, needs no account, and uploads nothing.

## Compare two songs [#compare-two-songs]

1. Open [Mix vs reference](https://tools.aden.space/reference).
2. Drop your mix, or press **Upload your mix**.
3. Drop a reference song on **Add a reference song**, or anywhere on the panel. Drop both at once and the second one is the reference.
4. Press play. Switch between them with the play buttons, the 1 and 2 keys, or the arrow keys. Both play in step, so you stay at the same spot.

## Read the difference [#read-the-difference]

* **Match** is on: the louder song is turned down to the quieter one, so louder never sounds better by accident.
* **Tone** shows, for the lows, mids and highs, how much more or less your mix has than the reference, in dB. Amber means 3 dB or more.
* **Loudness** shows a live LUFS meter on each song.
* **Loop** repeats a passage, **Auto** switches between the songs for you, and **Blind** hides which one is playing so you judge by ear.

## Save your mix to Aden [#save-your-mix-to-aden]

Press **Save as track** to add your mix to Aden as a new track.

Inside Aden, you can compare two versions of a track the same way. See
