# Transcribe and time lyrics

Get a song's lyrics from the vocals, timed line by line, then edit them, play along and download an LRC file.
The [Lyrics transcriber](https://tools.aden.space/lyrics) writes out a song's lyrics from the vocals, each line with the time it starts. Free, no account needed.

## Get the lyrics [#get-the-lyrics]

1. Open the [Lyrics transcriber](https://tools.aden.space/lyrics).
2. Already have the lyrics? Paste them under **Have the lyrics?** first. Your words stay as they are and each line gets its time.
3. Drop the song, or press **Upload a song**. MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC and AIFF work, up to 100 MB and 10 minutes.
4. The lyrics appear in the language they're sung, each line with its start time.

  Without an account you can read five songs a day. The song is uploaded only to read the vocals and is deleted within a day.

## Fix a line [#fix-a-line]

* Click a word or a time and type over it.
* Enter splits a line. Backspace at the start of a line joins it to the one above.
* On a time, the up and down keys move it by a second.
* Changed a lot of words? Choose **Time to the vocals** in the … menu to time every line again.
* **Edit as text** opens the whole song as one text, handy for a big paste. Press **Done** to keep it.

## Play along [#play-along]

Press play and the line being sung lights up. The play button beside a line plays from there.

## Take the lyrics with you [#take-the-lyrics-with-you]

* **Download LRC** saves a timed lyrics file for players and lyrics services.
* **Download as text** and **Copy lyrics** are in the … menu.
* **Make video** opens the [snippet video maker](/docs/help/free-tools/snippet-tool) with the song and these lyrics.
* **Save to Aden** puts the song in Aden with its lyrics. Without an account, you sign up first in that tab.

## Pick up where you left off [#pick-up-where-you-left-off]

Your browser keeps your last eight songs with their lyrics and edits. A reload opens the last one, and **Recent** opens the others. **Clear** forgets them all.
