# Check a trademark

Search the EU trademark register for a name before you release under it.
Before you release under a new artist or album name, check whether someone already registered it as a trademark in the EU.

## Check a name [#check-a-name]

1. Open an album and go to its **Metadata**.
2. Find **Trademark Check**.
3. Type the name and search.

Results come straight from the EU trademark register and show existing registrations that might clash with your name.
