# Drop files on the notch
Source: https://docs.aden.space/docs/help/apps/desktop/drop-shelf

Drag files to the top of your screen and Aden offers what fits, from a new track to a transfer link.
Drag files onto your MacBook's notch, or the top centre of any screen. It opens into a small shelf that reads the files and offers only what fits. As you drag, the notch glows so you can find it from across the screen.

## File what you dropped [#file-what-you-dropped]

1. Drag one or more files to the notch.
2. Check the team on the left of the shelf. Switching it plans the files again.
3. Pick a suggestion, or type in the shelf's search to find any other action.

What it offers:

* **A bounce** becomes a track, with people, BPM, key and tags read from its name. A bounce named after one of your tracks becomes its new version.
* **Several bounces** become a track each, or one track with every file as a version.
* **A DAW project, project folder or stems** become a track's project files.
* **A contract, split sheet, lyrics or statement** go to the track named in it, or to team files.
* **Anything** can go out as a transfer. The link is copied for you.
* **On a Mac, anything** can go by AirDrop.

You can also type a phrase: "create track with Mave", "add as version to Afterglow", "send transfer to Senator". Nothing is sent for you; you press send.

Press play on a bounce to hear it right on the shelf. Drop more files and they join the pile. While an upload runs, the shelf shows its progress, and its ✕ stops it and removes what it already made.

## Drop apps into your setup [#drop-apps-into-your-setup]

Drop apps like Ableton Live, Notion or Dropbox and Aden adds them to **Account → Gear**. A DAW gets the Aden plugin. An app Aden connects to shows **Connect**. Aden's chat reads your setup, so its answers fit your tools.

## Move it or turn it off [#move-it-or-turn-it-off]

* Hold the notch and drag it to any corner or edge.
* Click away and the files wait. Rest the pointer on the notch to get them back.
* Choose screens, place and how long files stay in **Settings → System**.
* Turn it off with **Drop zone** in the same place.

## Without a notch [#without-a-notch]

* Drop files on the Aden icon in the menu bar.
* On Windows, drag a file toward the top centre of the screen.
* Right-click files and pick Aden's Choose Action. On Windows it sits under Aden in the menu.
* In ⌘K, type "drop".
